SJC 50th Anniversary

We have begun our yearlong celebration!

We gathered with the bishop of this local church, many of the founders who started with a dream and parish members of all ages. We made “a joyful noise unto the Lord” in praise and thanksgiving of all the graces of the first 50 years of SJC.

And this is just the beginning of the Jubilee Year. Many more wonderful events are planned for families, individuals and the whole parish. The complete schedule of month-to-month events can be found using the Events tab above. I doubt if anyone will be able to do everything that is being offered, including me, but I sincerely hope that the energy from the Kick-Off events sustains interest from event to event until we conclude our 51st year in 2011 with the closing liturgy after the Family Fest Carnival in July.

My greatest hope is that all of the celebrating leads us to a spiritual renewal as a community of faith. Hopefully, looking to the past can help us look at our present and propel us to our future. The parish has an incredible history of involved parishioners who deeply invested their time, talent and treasure to build up this community of faith. Every age has its challenges and the present is no different. There is no one way to deal with problems/issues/scandals/ conflicts, or simple differences of opinion. However, if we strive to be continuously rooted in Christ, if we are open to the power of the Holy Spirit, if we know ourselves as part of a larger church, if we are courageous in admitting mistakes and humble in acknowledging success, then God will provide.

Happy 50th Anniversary SJC!

Peace,

Fr. David
